Rogers Centre is recognized as one of the world's premiere entertainment centres, which since its spectacular opening on June 3, 1989, has achieved the highest honours in the stadium entertainment industry. Formerly known as SkyDome, the venue was renamed the Rogers Centre on February 2, 2005. Over 2,000 events have been staged and more than 50 million people have visited Rogers Centre - famous the world over for its fully retractable roof. From 1996-1998, the facility also received the prestigious "Prime Site of the Year Award" from Facilities Magazine and recently won the Toronto Tourism Award for "Employer of the Year." For four consecutive years, the facility received the "Stadium of the Year Award" voted by Billboard, Amusement Business and Performance Magazine. Rogers Centre is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club™, World Series Champions in 1992 and 1993, and the Toronto Argonauts Football Team™ who won the Grey Cup in 1991, 1996, 1997 and 2004. Rogers Centre facility's versatility allows it to accommodate a variety of events suited for an arena, a domed stadium and an open-air facility. Roger Centre facility's capacity ranges from 5,000 to 60,000 for sports events, concerts, family shows, trade shows and conventions. In 1997, the facility hosted a record of 302 event days with announced attendance for events and tours of 4,500,000, making it one of the busiest venues in the world. A unique feature of the Rogers Centre is its Videoboard, one of the world's largest, measuring 110 feet wide by 33 feet high - bringing everyone even closer to the action. Other features include: Premier Fitness, Rogers Centre Tour Experience, Theatre, state-of-the-art broadcast facilities, the Renaissance Hotel, and several restaurants and bars, including the world famous Hard Rock Café. New features: Dedicated to the guests, promoters and talent that come through the doors of Rogers Centre, its staff is committed to ensuring that the facility exceeds everyone's expectations. Guests to Rogers Centre can now enjoy an expanded 100 Level concourse area making the space brighter, more fan-friendly with expanded wheelchair seating. New in 2007, Rogers Centre unveiled an expanded Jays Shop - Stadium Edition. This 8,000 square foot retail space is a must-see location for fans and visitors to Rogers Centre. To keep up with consumer demand and showcase all the wonderful merchandising options, Jays Shop will move to a larger location at Gate 5 and will be given a complete face lift. Remaining one of the largest team merchandise outlets in all of Canada, Jays Shop will have some unique and special features when it opens its doors this season. There are a number of new and exciting features being incorporated into the overall design that will have an open concept feel with MAJESTIC, NEW ERA and NIKE specific areas. In addition there will be a one-of-a-kind hat wall that will display 150 Blue Jays caps. In total, the store will have 400 different caps for sale making it the largest display and selection of caps in Canada. Finally, in order to make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action on the field, there will be a video display board keeping you up-to-date. Improvements and upgrades continue to be finalized at Rogers Centre and this year they are hot! Guests to the 100 Level restrooms, both men and women, can now wash their hands with hot water. Though the heat thrown by Blue Jays pitchers will be enough to make you want to splash cold water on your face, this new upgrade will make you smile. Sightlines Restaurant Sightlines Restaurant, Rogers Centre's exclusive open-air restaurant, offers premium seating with striking views of the field right from your table. Sightlines Restaurant is open on event days for pre-event and event dining and is available on non-event days for private catered functions. Windows Fun and fabulous in Windows! Windows is Rogers Centre's dynamic, three-tiered banquet facility offering a fantastic open-air view of the playing field. Executive Chef Rodney Meynert makes the atmosphere more spectacular with his signature dishes and customized catering menus.
