2008 Scholarship Recipient
Having over 400 qualified scholarship applicants is a true testament that HOSA, the premier career and technical student organization for health science really does influence and make a difference in the career selection and lives of so many young people. The selection committee reported the enthusiasm for HOSA and the healthcare field was evident in the essays not to mention the need for the scholarships with the high cost of education in the medical professions.
The National Consortium on Health Science and Technology Education (NCHSTE) is pleased to be a contributor to the National HOSA scholarship program. In June, forty deserving students received scholarship awards at the 2008 HOSA National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. HOSA continues to be grateful to the scholarship partners for providing money for these most deserving young people who, indeed, will represent HOSA and the sponsors well in their work in the medical field. Denise Johnson, a recent graduate of Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions, Houston, Texas received a $1000 HOSA scholarship provided by NCHSTE. Denise’s career goal is to become a pediatrician. She will be a freshman at Stanford University in Pal Alto, California this fall. In addition to this award, Denise Johnson was the first place winner in Dental Spelling, one of fifty-five events in the HOSA competitive events program. Congratulations to Denise Johnson and best wishes in her future as a health professional! |
