 About TCAT
The Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation (TCAT) was formed in 2006 to give a unified voice to the many groups working for a better cycling and pedestrian environment in Toronto. The TCAT plan for active transportation emerged out of consultation with environmental, health and transportation groups from across Toronto. The result is a practical yet visionary plan for how Toronto City Council can make active transportation a central part of transportation planning.
Mission Statement:
The Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation (TCAT) works to create a better city for cycling and walking.
We do this by: Conducting research, developing policy, and creating opportunities for knowledge sharing Working with City staff and councillors and other governments and agencies Identifying and communicating opportunities to influence government decision making TCAT News & Events As reported in TCAT News, Bike Summit 2008 was a huge success back in April of this year. One of the goals for the one-day conference was to share the knowledge and lessons learned at the summit with bicycle advocates, professionals and elected officials unable to join us in Toronto. To this end, TCAT helped to first coordinate a follow-up Bike Summit webinar, and now TCAT has prepared a summary report to help build the case for cycling investments in communities across Canada.
Through the generous support of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada, TCAT has written designed and printed this easy-to-read and stimulating guide. Printed copies are available for pick-up or mailing. So if you' like some copies to distribute, please call or e-mail 416.392.0290 or
