Educators

Our teachers are among the most qualified and most caring educators in the world. Our teachers come equipped with Education degrees, supplemented regularly with upgrading courses and professional development courses. Our teachers make a difference. They are dedicated to the task of helping our students be the best they can be and further enrich students' lives by volunteering their time for many activities beyond the regular school day.

Programs

We are proud of the unique and valuable programs our schools offer. The mission of the
TDSB is to enable all our students to reach high levels of achievement and to acquire the
skills, knowledge, and values they need to become productive, responsible members of a
democratic society.

We offer comprehensive core programs to ensure an excellent education for all. Students can
also choose from a variety of specialized programs that are designed to meet their needs
and interests. We are committed to life-long learning and also offer programs that allow
adults to continue to learn and enrich their lives.

There are approximately 189,000 students at the elementary level (including intermediate) and 89,000 at the secondary level. We also have many adults enrolled in adult learning programs.

Better schools today means a brighter future for children of tomorrow
Imagine a school where every space draws out your child’s curiosity for learning.
Imagine a school that offers a range of programs and course offerings to challenge and motivate your child.
Imagine a school with expert teachers (e.g. music and phys. ed.) to inspire learning and growth for your child in primary grades.
Imagine a school that fully prepares your teen to enter the workforce or post-secondary school.
Imagine a school with innovative classrooms and modern sports and science facilities.
Imagine a school that’s eco-friendly, full of natural light, with a welcoming schoolyard for outdoor play.
Imagine a school that your young child can walk to, while secondary students can access a wide variety of programs easily by public transit.
Imagine a school that’s the hub of your community, with services to support your entire family.

We are turning imagination into reality. We know that better schools today means a brighter future for all children of tomorrow. We are planning for the future to help all students achieve. We want to make schools the best learning environments they can be – inspiring places were children can learn, grow and gain the skills and knowledge they need.

Our goal is to renew schools and programs so we can invest in the future of the children of Toronto. Your child’s well being is the most important consideration in everything we do as we transform our schools for the future.

We will review all our schools and make sure they are, and will, be located where students need them. We will turn our unneeded lands and buildings into revenue so we can improve programs and revitalize existing schools in disrepair. We will modernize classrooms, and create specialized science, arts and trade learning spaces, and athletic facilities. We will make sure students are prepared for success in the classroom and in the community, while providing new opportunities and better services to support families.

We will meet with local communities to listen and learn what is important to you and your children so we can gather all the information, identify the issues, understand the impacts and consider all the options before we make our decisions. We will work with parents, schools and local communities to make our shared vision of schools a reality. Together we can build futures one community at a time.

Visit this website often to get the latest information on how we are building brighter futures for students in your community.
