 Our firm has been in business continuously since 1934, and Michael Nepom has owned and operated it since 1995. Mckinnon is fully licensed, insured, covered by Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), operates under the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA), and is a member of The Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors of Canada (HRAC) and of the Retail Council of Canada.
We believe in providing straightforward information and options to enable sound decisions. We source high-quality, good-value products, make sure they are installed properly and on time, back them up, and deliver fair value for money.
History of Social Responsibility
Mckinnon believes in the importance of giving back to its community. Currently we support The Design Exchange, Canada's design museum and centre for design research and education. We believe that good design (e.g. product design, architecture) can help solve all sorts of big and small problems. Designers are particularly interested in the quality of our environments - indoors and out. And they champion the sustainable use of the planet's natural resources. In the past we've supported a wide range of other charities and non-profit organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, local community sports teams, and social service organizations.
products There are a great number of brand names on the market and a lot of claims are made. Mckinnon carefully selects the manufacturers we do business with on the basis of overall quality and reliability, product features and performance, and how well the product is backed.
Selecting the right product for your particular home and circumstances requires expertise and advice from a trusted source. We work consultatively with you, to get to know your distinct needs and preferences as well as budget before making any recommendations. While we install what we know is amongst the best equipment available, Mckinnon believes the most important aspect of a home comfort equipment purchase is the selection of a high quality company to first help choose the right product or system, then install and back it.
We honour and support all of our manufacturers' warranties. Most products are covered by a parts warranty of at least one year; however, some equipment has longer parts coverage. Beyond our manufacturers' backing, Mckinnon extends a one-year labour warranty on all new equipment we install. Ask us for full warranty details on the product you are considering.
Service
We guarantee scheduled appointments. Priority 24/7 service is available in emergency situations (no heat in the winter or extreme health or safety issues). All service is performed by our own fully trained, licensed and insured technicians. We do only work that is required and which you authorize. All service and parts are covered by our full three month warranty.
Preventive maintenance services include seasonal cleaning, tuning, safety checking and filter cleaning and/or replacement.
