The Canadian Food Inspection (CFIA) and Toronto Sun Wah Trading Inc.. (also known as Hollend Enterprises Inc.). warning the public not to consume beans sprouted ambérique brand of Sun Wah because the product could be contaminated with Salmonella.
 
The beans sprouted ambérique of Sun Wah are sold in packages of different weights and can be marketed under various names. The Sun Wah name may not appear on the packaging. All product codes and dates "Best Before" are covered by the recall. Consumers who may have purchased ambérique of beans sprouted and are not sure of the name of the producer must check to where they bought the goods if it is the product covered by the recall. The product was distributed in Ontario.
 

A number of cases of illness associated with consumption of this product have been reported.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not necessarily visible alteration or smell suspicious. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness. In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonella can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections. Among healthy people, salmonellosis may be manifested by short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Salmonellosis little cause long-term complications as a severe form of arthritis.

The producer, Toronto Sun Wah Trading Inc.. Located in Toronto (Ontario), voluntarily withdrew the affected product market. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
