Greenwood College School is a co-educational day school located on the south-east corner of Davisville Road and Mount Pleasant Road in Toronto.
Established in 2002, the school offers a comprehensive academic program to 360 students in Grades 7 through 12 for the 2007-2008 academic year. The school is housed in a state-of-the-art facility built in 2002 that includes 21 classrooms, a full size gymnasium, indoor climbing wall, art room, digital music room and drama facility. In addition to its urban campus, Greenwood also utilizes several outdoor facilities and destinations to deliver its experiential education and Outdoor Leadership Program such as Kilcoo Camp and Outward Bound. The school does not have a library, however it does have a Reading Room which houses the school's book collection.
In early 2008 it was announced that founding Principal, David Thompson, would be leaving Greenwood in June 2008 to become the Headmaster at Lakefield College School. The current Vice Principal, Allan Hardy, was appointed as his successor.

The school's philosophy embraces life balance for all of its students, incorporating service to the community and an appreciation of the outdoors. In the past two years, Greenwood has expanded onto one of the surrounding residential blocks. In turn, Greenwood built outdoor basketball courts, and offices.
Graduates of Greenwood College School have gone on to attend notable University’s such as McGill and Western’s Ivey School of Business, as well as schools in the United States and the United Kingdom.

 Learning :
Thankfully, no two students are alike. And while this fact is often overlooked in the traditional classroom, it lies at the very heart of how instruction is delivered at Greenwood.
A unit on the American Civil War, for example, could incorporate a wide array of learning activities, depending on the student. One student might create a PowerPoint presentation on the economics of the cotton trade in the mid-19th century, while another sketches Civil War era military uniforms and another presents a book report on literature set in the period. Students learn by sharing their unique findings and exchanging ideas.
Our focus on differentiated learning stresses that who is being taught is equally as important as what is being taught. It acknowledges that an auditory learner absorbs information differently than a visual learner. And it takes into account that personal experiences and individual interest will shape how individual students respond to a particular subject. Learn more about Greenwood's innovative Student Success Centre, where students have the opportunity to explore and be challenged according to their own unique learning styles.
Greenwood's commitment to differentiated learning dictates a continuous process of assessment and adjustment in the way the curriculum is delivered to each student. We keep the student/teacher ratio low, and offer Educational Interns in many classes, to ensure that lessons cater to the unique learning styles of all students, making the learning process fun, challenging and fulfilling.
